General:

The fee for each hour of tuition is £20.00 for individuals on a pay-as-you-go basis payable in cash or by cheque.

Fees are reviewed on an annual basis and parents will be informed of any changes in fees in good time. Changes take effect from September of the year under review.

Reduced rates apply (see below) for groups of up to four pupils taught together.

I am available for tuition from 1.30pm to 9.00pm throughout the week except Saturdays and Sundays. For reasons of accessibility I do not tutor in Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers or Torpoint.

Group Tuition:

I can offer group teaching at my own address or an agreed venue for 11+ pupils and pupils experiencing difficulty with maths/English at KS2 and 3.  No group will exceed four pupils. My rates for group tuition are as follows:

2 pupils: £12.50 per pupil
3-4 pupils: £10.00 per pupil

Individual Tuition:

Individual tuition takes place in the pupil’s own home.

11+ Pre-tutoring Assessment:

If you are uncertain whether your child is ready for 11+ tuition, I am able to conduct an assessment of his/her ability in maths and verbal reasoning by post before you commit to tutoring.  Administration costs for this service and the follow-up discussion amount to £5.

You should bear in mind that the test papers are probably very unlike anything your child has seen before and can be quite daunting without prior explanation.  You will receive details of how to administer the test and suggestions for preparing your child for the test. Nevertheless, the result may still not do full justice your child’s potential.

Alternatively, you may prefer to book a three or four-week slot in which I work with your child and then give you a verbal assessment. This is more likely to produce a fairer picture of your child’s chances of success at 11+.

Text Books:

While I have a wide range of teaching materials at my disposal, parents/students should expect to buy essential workbooks themselves. Parents/students can place orders for materials directly through me at a discounted rate.

Holidays:

Tuition continues during school holidays by mutual agreement. I take a three-week holiday break, usually  in August/September. I will discuss changes to these arrangements as the need arises. In the case of 11+ pupils, who will be sitting their examination in the January immediately following the Christmas break, I am happy to rearrange lessons to fit in with family arrangements so that they receive their full complement of lessons before the exam.

Cancellations:

If it becomes necessary for you to cancel a lesson, you should give at least 24 hours’ notice. Otherwise, except where the cancellation is due to an emergency, the full fee remains payable. In the case of frequent cancellations teaching hours will be re-allocated to other students.

The tutor or the student may decide to discontinue tutoring at any time. No explanation is due, but there should be proper verbal or written advice beforehand.
